NECTERCOT

NECTERCOT

I had my first Nectercot today, its a combination of a necterine and an apricot. The taste and texture is amazing. Firstly the colour is between the two but more towards the orange of a apricot. The smell I though first of all smelt like a white peach, but once I found out what it was I could pick it up straight away, you smell the necterine first and then straight after a blast of apricot cuts through.

I was expecting the texture to be more like a necterine because its the same shape and size of one but when I bit into it it is completly like eating a apricot, firm, almost slighty fury, not very juicy but divine anyway.

I think this would be a great fruit to go with cheese as its more savoury but still has the hint of sweetness you need to go with cheese. I also think its great for a dessert that does not need to be overly sweet. Roasted with some toasted cashews crushed over and a good ball of homemade vanilla bean ice cream would go down very well.
